A Possible Amazon: Building a Sustainable Future for the Amazon
A Possible Amazon is a groundbreaking seminar organized by the Brazilian-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce (BNCC) to explore innovative and sustainable solutions for the Amazon region. Held annually in Oslo, Norway, this event brings together visionaries, experts, and advocates to discuss actionable strategies for preserving the Amazon’s rich biodiversity and supporting its communities.
An Event of Collaboration and Purpose
The first edition of the seminar, held in October 2023 at Deichman Bjørvika, focused on three essential pillars: People and Communities, Bioeconomy, and Fauna and Flora. It included a special art exhibition featuring the works of a renowned Indigenous Brazilian artist, which beautifully highlighted the cultural richness of the Amazon.
The second edition, in October 2024, took place at The Conduit Oslo and delved even deeper into the themes of sustainable development. Discussions centered on regenerative agriculture, supporting science and research, and developing local manufacturing with sustainable value chains. The event aimed to create a roadmap for fostering sustainable economic growth in the Amazon while preserving its unique ecosystems.
Inspiring Voices and Key Speakers
Both editions of A Possible Amazon featured a lineup of distinguished speakers, including leaders in sustainability, activists, academics, and policymakers. In 2024, the event was particularly enriched by the participation of Priscila Tapajowara, an activist and founder of Mídia Indígena. Priscila’s powerful voice highlighted the critical role of Indigenous peoples in protecting the Amazon and emphasized the importance of empowering their communities. Her insights served as a reminder of the intersection between environmental preservation and social justice.
Other notable speakers have included environmental scientists, entrepreneurs in the bioeconomy, and advocates working at the forefront of climate action, making the event a dynamic platform for meaningful dialogue.
My Role
In both the 2023 and 2024 editions, I had the privilege of serving as an advisor, fundraiser, and speaker for the seminar. My contributions focused on shaping the strategic direction of the event, leveraging my network to secure funding, and sharing my insights on sustainable development and innovative solutions for the Amazon. It was a profound honor to collaborate with such an inspiring group of individuals and organizations, united by a shared vision of creating a better future for the Amazon and its people.
A Vision of Hope
A Possible Amazon is more than a seminar—it is a call to action. It embodies the belief that through collaboration, innovation, and commitment, we can ensure the Amazon’s survival and prosperity. By bridging cultures and bringing together diverse perspectives, the event fosters hope, solutions, and partnerships to address the most pressing environmental and social challenges of our time.
For those who believe in the transformative power of dialogue and action, A Possible Amazon is a shining example of what is possible when we work together for the greater good.
