New Hope Project: Empowering the Guardians of the Amazon
The New Hope Project is a transformative initiative led by Iskukua Yawanawá in partnership with the CTR Foundation, designed to empower Indigenous peoples of the Amazon, starting with the Yawanawá Nation. Focused on preserving culture, promoting independence, and protecting natural habitats, the project combines technology, sustainability, and deep respect for ancestral traditions.
The first major milestone of the project was the implementation of clean and renewable energy in the Nova Esperança (New Hope) Village. Through the distribution of solar kits, the entire community gained access to electricity, marking a turning point in their quality of life.
This solution enabled evening classes, proper food storage, and significant improvements to the villagers' daily lives, providing greater comfort, safety, and opportunities.
Contribution and Impact
As an Advisor to the New Hope Project, my role involved contributing to the strategic vision behind this implementation. Witnessing the tangible impacts of this initiative—from electrification to strengthening community practices—has been an immense honor.
A Hope for the Future
The New Hope Project is an inspiring example of how leadership, technology, and sustainability can transform entire communities while respecting and preserving their traditions. Led by Iskukua Yawanawá and supported by the CTR Foundation, this journey in Nova Esperança Village highlights the power of merging innovation with purpose, paving the way for a more just and sustainable future.
